Research Interests:

lSoil microbial ecology, microbial biogeography, functional genomics, grassland community ecology, and global change biology.

During the past few years, I mainly focus on thestudiesofthe generation, maintenance, and consequences ofmicrobialbiodiversityin China’s natural grassland and the promotion of crop growth using microbe-mediatedmethodologiesin North America agroecosystems.I have great interests in microbial biogeography, plant-soil microbiome interactions, and linkages between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning (e.g., nitrogen cycling, plant productivity and soil fertility) under different scenarios of environmental change (e.g., climate change and agricultural management).Istudy a variety ofmicrobialsystems including grassland bacteriaarchaeaand fungibased on omicsurveys of natural communitiesandlong-termfield experiments.
