On March 24, Academician Nan Zhibiao and Zhangyang, Assistant Professor participated inthe Launching Meeting of Major Consulting Project “Strategic Research of National Food Safety under New Situation”of Chinese Academy of Engineering in Beijing. The project was an extension and deepening of several major projects executed previously and was aimed to answer the question that how to ensure national food safety underthenew situation. Liu Xu, Deng Xiuxin, Tang Huajun and Wu Kongming assumed the post as group leadersjointly. There were seven subjects under the project, including four major industries of planting industry, pastoral agriculture, breeding industry and aquaculture and three major technical supports of smart agriculture, ecological agriculture and biotechnology. Subject facilitators are Wu Kongming, Nan Zhibiao, Chen Huanchun, Mai Kangsen, Zhao Chunjiang, Li Wenhua and Huang Jikun. Respective introductions to seven subjects have been made. Appointed by Academician Nan Zhibiao, Assistant Professor Zhangyan reported the research approach for Subject II“Pastoral agriculture and Food Safety”.

Academician Shen Guofang, Li Aike, original deputy director of the Rural Economy Division of NationalDevelopmentand Reform Commission, dialect researcher and Chief Researcher of Academy of National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration were employed to be consultants. They have highly affirmed the research approach of each subject and have had interaction and communication with the research group,concerningrelevant contents. Finally, Academician Deng Xiuxin and Academician Liu Xu gave summary speeches respectively and proposed specific requirements for the project and subject in data specification, research approach improvement, research plan promotion and other aspects.

A total of over 40 researchers from Bureau II of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Agriculture Division, Strategic Consulting Center, Peking University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Ocean University of China, Huazhong Agricultural University, Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, CAS,Institute of Agricultural Economics andDevelopment,CAAS, Beijing Research Center for Information Technology in Agriculture and many colleges and scientific research institutions also participated in the meeting.
