On December 29, the General Office of the Ministry of Science and Technology issued the notice ofImplementation Plan for the Construction and Operation of National FieldScientific Observation and Research Station, and “Gansu Qingyang Pastoral agriculture Ecosystem Field Science Observation and Research Station” and “Gannan Pasture Ecosystem Field Science Observation and Research Station” applied by Lanzhou University were selected into the list of preferred construction, which realized the breakthrough of zero field station at a national level in our university.
“Located in Qingyang City, Gansu Province, Gansu QingyangPastoral agriculture Ecosystem Field Science Observation and Research Station”is the field station that is the earliest to develop the observation, research and demonstration & promotion of the pastoral agriculture system, Since the establishment in 1981, led by Academician Ren Jizhou and Academician Nan Zhibiao, several generations have rooted in Qingyang Station, targeted at the disadvantages oftheagricultural structure of traditional rural areas taking grain as the key link, taken the ecological environment construction of Chineseloess plateauand improvement ofagriculturalsystem productivity as its goal and developed long-term positioning study and demonstration, with the cultivation of 130 post-doctors and postgraduates and the reception of 900 undergraduates inside and outside the University for practice. It actively develops internationalcooperationwithAustralia, Canada, New Zealand and other countries, and its achievements haveasignificant influence on the academic circle in China and international organizations. Pastoral agriculture system theory boosts the implementation of a series of significant agricultural policies including“transition from grain to fodder”and providespowerful scientific & technical support for the rapid development of grass planting and animal husbandry in Qingyang City andwinningthe battle against poverty. It has become an important field base for pastoral agriculture research.
