In order to better serve the needs of the country and accelerate the construction of ecological civilization, Lanzhou University has integrated relevant research institutes inside and outside the school to establish the center for grassland microbiome(hereinafter referred to as the“Center”). On the morning of October 24th, the unveiling ceremony of the center and the first academic committee meeting were held in 201, Yifu Science Museum, West District, Lanzhou University.

At the unveiling ceremony, Du Shengyi read the "Notice on the Establishment of the Center for Grassland Microbiome, Lanzhou University" and the "Notice on Chen Jianping's Appointment". Academician Yan Chunhua gave a letter of appointment to Chairman Chen Jianping and deputy directors Kang Zhensheng and Li Yu. Chairman Chen Jianping issued a letter of appointment for the members.

Academician Yan Chunhua emphasized that grassland is not only a production base for grass husbandry, but also an important biological gene bank, a production base for various characteristic plant products, and an important tourism, cultural and educational site with important production, environment and Cultural function. Grassland science and ecology have always been the characteristics and strengths of Lanzhou University. The establishment of the center aims to explore major scientific and technological issues of microbes and provide scientific support for government decision-making, grassland health and sustainable development of animal husbandry. He hoped that the center will speed up the pace of construction, accelerate the transformation of scientific research results into social productive forces, and help the country's ecological civilization construction and green sustainable development.

The director of the center, Nan Zhibiao, said that the establishment of the center is a big step forward in the scientific research field of grassland. The original intention was to gather relevant resources of grassland microbiology at home and abroad, open up new research and fields, and form a new breakthrough. The center will further accelerate the pace of construction, strengthen the introduction of talents, and increase the international cooperation. Subsequently, Chen Jianping, Li Yu, Kang Zhensheng, Yan Chunhua, and Nan Zhibiao, five academicians, and the center's chief scientist Zhou Jizhong and deputy director Yang Yunfeng jointly unveiled the center.

After the unveiling ceremony, Academician Chen Jianping hosted the first academic committee meeting of the center. Professor Yang Yunfeng, deputy director of the Center, reported on the progress of the work since the establishment of the center from five aspects. Professor Li Shouli and Professor Zhang Jinlin made progress reports on their respective research areas.

After the report, the committee members highly affirmed the outstanding achievements of the center in infrastructure construction, information construction and talent introduction since the establishment of the center, and provided valuable opinions and suggestions on the problems existing in the center and the future construction and development. They hoped that the Center will plan the next stage of work early and strive for stronger support from the state and schools.
